“Good Things Come to Those Who Create”
Altered Spool on Stand
For this project I used two spools from Hobby Lobby that I painted, covered in patterned paper, and glued them together with a small row of lace at the top. The wooden base was from Joann’s and was painted in an aqua color. The color ended up being a bit too bright to match the papers so I sponged a bit of white paint over the base to blend it in better. Once that was dry I added patterned paper to the top of the base and also on the bottom of the base.
It was now time to assemble the two pieces. I adhered a Beautiful Board Small Heart Deco Circle Bead Frame Chipboard to the center of the base and then glued the spools in the middle of it. Some beaded tulle was run around the base. I then added a frame that I painted white and inserted the words “Good Things Come to Those Who Create”. I positioned the frame on the spools taking into consideration the placement of the fairy and made sure she didn’t block the wording. I used Reneabouquets Printed Beautiful Board Romance And Roses Small Persephone as the main part of the project. The roses on her dress matched the roses of the patterned paper perfectly. She was adhered to the left side of the frame and on the right side I added some metal scissors topped with Butterfly Kisses Aurora Borealis Pink Single Side Printed Butterfly.
On the back side of the spools I added a zipper that was decorated with Beautiful Beads Candy Flatback Pearls in white, a tape measure, and a Tiny Treasures Sweet Pea Soft Green Premium Paper Glitter Glass butterfly.
On the top of the spool I added two pieces from the Beautiful Board Small April In Paris Adornment Pattern set to help support the mint and pink mulberry roses that were added at the top. In the center of the cluster is a beaded pin.
To finish off the base I added flowers, a thimble, a bobbin, and a spool to complete the sewing them. A few more of the Flatback pearls were also added around the frame on the base. A dusting of Gawdie Girl Diamond Shard German Glitter Glass was then added to all the roses for extra sparkle and shine.
